Alternative breakfast spots near Marmaris

Marmaris is full of places that offer traditional large Turkish breakfasts. You can get one by the sea, on a terrace, by the side of the road. Literally everywhere. And they are delicious. But sometimes you may want something a little different.

Casa Gaia

This cute İçmeler bar has begun opening for breakfast. There aren’t many places offering healthy options, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a menu containing smoothie bowls. The area has an abundance of fresh local organic fruit, and it’s nice to see them make use of this. They have also started to do croissants, which taste exactly like something you’d find in an English bakery. I have tried quite a few pastries in Turkey and disliked all of them, so I’m glad I’ve found somewhere good! Their chocolate one is my favourite. This is also the only place I’ve seen that sells Kombucha, they come in a variety of delightful flavours and are all Turkish made. The best way to keep up with them is following @casagaiamarmaris on Instagram!

A Girl’s Garden

In the village of Akçapınar, just a 15-minute drive from Marmaris, is a very unusual breakfast spot. Up the mountain and in a garden there is one table overlooking the mosque. From here you are served a set menu that changes daily of meze style intricate handmade foods. The setting is beautiful, the service could not be better because you’re the only ones there, and the food was delicious. Reservations are also a must to allow for the food preparation to take place. This is the priciest option of them all however at 150TL per person. If this isn’t a problem for you, it’s definitely worth trying, as the experience is unique. I wouldn’t advise visiting if you are a picky eater however, as we were not told beforehand what any of the food was, and it was a mainly vegetarian menu apart from some salmon (at least on the day we visited!).
