If you’ve been to Marmaris Marina then you’ve probably noticed a pretty white stone building sitting way up the hill. After seeing this place invitingly lit up a few times at night, I decided to go here with some friends for dinner in the summer of 2020. To get there you have to go through a side street and up quite a few sets of stairs, however, there is no lift so it is not wheelchair accessible. Once you arrive at the restaurant there are seats on three floors, with the roof providing the best unhindered panoramic views. There are also some seats that provide almost no view. As you can imagine this place gets very busy, so ring ahead to book a table and specify where you’d like it.
This cafe had a hefty menu of pizza, wraps, meat dishes, pasta, salad etc. There was also a nice looking cocktail menu too. We took our seats and ordered a few beers, a sex on the beach and a mojito. This is unfortunately when our evening of waiting began. We also then ordered some food; crispy cheese sticks and fries for starters. With a pasta dish, wrap, pizza and salad as mains. We received our drinks which were delicious but definitely made us hungrier. After some 40 minute wait, the food started to arrive. However, we received our mains with our starters. Despite us ordering in Turkish and us talking to the waiter a few times, it would seem that there had been a mix-up. We were very hungry, so we just said it was fine and ate our dishes.
The food I would say was pleasant but not fantastic and the price (of everything) was definitely higher than in most places. Castle Cafe and Bar is named just that, it does not advertise itself as a restaurant and so I do not want to judge it too harshly on that front. I personally would probably not go here for dinner again. As a bar, however, it is really lovely. The view is romantic, the drinks are tasty and the decor is very Mediterranean giving it a real holiday vibe. The waiters also do understand English enough for a tourist to get by (just don’t order starters and mains it would seem!).
